  • Why I quit my job…and why you shouldn’t

Why I quit my job…and why you shouldn’t

Quitting your job because you hate it, don’t like it or don’t like your boss, is not a solution. Quitting your job without exhausting other options, is not a good idea. It just provides you with temporary relief, but no solution. I quit my job in March, mid-month, and whilst I don’t regret leaving the environment I was in, I certainly wouldn’t recommend taking that route. (more…)

  • A tribute, to a phenomenal woman, on her day of birth.

A tribute, to a phenomenal woman, on her day of birth.

“And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age.” Ruth 4:15

You have been a paragon of strength, in the 23 short years that I’ve known you.

Even when the going gets tough, and the shit hits the fan, you’ve held it together  admirably, with a spine of steel, but a tender heart. (more…)

  • To be brave in the midst of pain and fear of loss.

To be brave in the midst of pain and fear of loss.

Pain has many forms, many colours, and certainly many depths. I wrote this for myself, for catharsis, to purge my soul somewhat of the relentless fear and pain. The pain and fear of watching your parent teeter near the edge of death. With each year that I grow older, I’ve encountered new and deeper levels of pain, but none that compares with this. (more…)

  • A simple guide on containing regret from past decisions

A simple guide on containing regret from past decisions

Have you ever made a decision you regret? Choices you wish you never made? Or wished the circumstances surrounding you had been different?

This happens a lot, to many of us. But regret is a terrible emotion that will leave a sour taste in your mouth. You don’t want the helplessness that comes with it, the self-admonishments and anger with yourself. Many of us do this. (more…)

  • How to use comparison to propel yourself forward.

How to use comparison to propel yourself forward.

Comparison can be a very powerful tool, and today, I’ll show you why. That being said, it’s odd how many times you read or hear this mantra about not comparing yourself to others. Of how you’re different and all those other things people say, making it seem super easy to simply not compare yourself to others. (more…)

  • Achieving your goals by understanding the power of time

Achieving your goals by understanding the power of time

Have you ever tried to lose weight, or tried to turn a skinny unimpressive torso into a set of beautiful abs? In a really short space of time? (It usually doesn’t work that way.) Or better yet watched someone else try? So they’re eager and committed at first. Then the excitement fizzles out and they start complaining about how this stuff doesn’t work. (more…)

  • Why bother trying when all your efforts keep amounting to nothing?

Why bother trying when all your efforts keep amounting to nothing?

That’s a really depressing statement isn’t it? The kind that if you see on a poster/image, you immediately object over such blatant negativity, because nobody needs it. We want to see the awesome messages that tell you you’re a champion, or a tiger (even though you’re really a cat), or some sh*t like that. (more…)

  • The harsh reality of worklife: the 8-5 grind truly is a rat race…

The harsh reality of worklife: the 8-5 grind truly is a rat race…

Getting a job is the dream for a ton of graduates, because, well…employment = money. And having money is a good thing right? But here’s what you never think about, once you have an 8 to 5 job, your life ceases to be your own.  Congratulations, you’ve now joined the rat race (it has no finish line by the way!) (more…)

  • Be honest with yourself; knowing when to quit

Be honest with yourself; knowing when to quit

I have spent a lot of time chasing ‘a passion’. Almost my entire undergraduate life to be specific. I wanted to go the Olympics. Well, World University Games (FISU) first, then World Championships, and then Olympics. I failed. FISU wasn’t a far-fetched dream, I watched some of my own teammates qualify and go, whilst I stayed behind. (more…)

WTF moments, just as you are trying to start

I had been trying to write for days, when I finally wrote this, but kept coming up with cookie cutter BS. The kind of stuff, I, myself would never read. Zero originality, zero personality. It’s as if my muse had decided to dig a massive hole in the earth,  and bury herself with soil, just when I had finally gotten myself to stop procrastinating, and start the damn blog. (more…)
